THEME: UMMATU RASUL & SEARCH FOR PEACE AT HOME AND ABROAD
DATE: 28 RAJAB, 1433/ 18 JUNE, 2012
I seek Allah’s help and HIS Refuge from the evil which is within ourselves and the evil which results from our deeds. Indeed the best form of speech is the book of Allah (Al Quran).
And the BEST source of guidance is that brought by Mohammed (May Allah exalt his mention)
The worst of ALL affairs are the innovations in religion; for indeed every religious innovation is a source of misguidance. And ALL sources of misguidance ultimately leads to the hell fire.
In my very little world (at home and abroad) ISLAM is undergone challenges of gargantuan proportions over the last few days. I feel it necessary to share these challenges with as many of you as possible and to look to the way forward in the general scheme of events.
CLASHES IN HOHOE (VOLTA REGION OF GHANA)
At home (in Ghana) many Muslims in a part of the country (Volta Region, Hohoe to be precise) have had to flee the area for fear of their lives, and so do they look to me like reenacting the days of Hijra, when Qurayshi persecution drove Muslims out of Mecca to Madina.
Just as the Hijra 14 centuries back returned positive results of the conquest of Mecca after some years, I honestly hope, persistently pray and boldly believe that all Muslims who have left for other parts of the country shall insha Allah return with victory on their side – that they become better citizens and members of the community.
I however join them in first condemning the act of going on rampage in the house of the chief of the area. It was unwarranted especially for adherents of a religion that preaches restraint in the Qur’an and Sunnah of the Prophet.
Equally despicable was the exhumation of the body of the Imam and subsequent dumping of the body on the street. Sunhaanal Laah may those complicit in this abominable act change their ways and seek Allah’s forgiveness.
AFTERMATH OF ARAB SPRING/SYRIA
In the wake of the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ which left especially North Africa as a volatile region for the better part of 2011 (deposing off two Presidents and crudely killing a third.)
The question that has always struck me is; was the uprising done for the sake of Allah? This I ask especially given that a Muslims’ actions are judged by their intentions.
What do we see today of those countries; Hosni Mubarak was kicked out and is now serving a life jail term in Egypt, yet protesters are still in Tahrir Square protesting over only Allah knows what?
To add to the agitations, the Supreme Court of the land has outlawed the last parliamentary elections calling it unconstitutional yet allowing a former Prime Minister under the Mubarak regime to stand in the presidential election run-off.
The transitional council in Libya is yet to get grips on the oil rich country that was once rules by a certain Muammar Gadaffi. Today, tribal chieftains are declaring autonomy in the country that was once under a single leader, the cracks in Libya indubitably widening by the minute.
Again, have the actors (indigenes) and their foreign collaborators (NATO, French Forces) served the best interest of the Libyan people as they asserted all through the bombardment and crude murder at the hands of fellow Arabs who were shown rejoicing for killing another Arab?
OF SYRIA, UN & NATO
Laa ilaaha il-lal Laah the situation in Syria worsens by the second (at least on account of the media reports that are coming out of the land presumably under the rule of Bashar Al Asad. By their accounts Asad is looking on as Syrians are slaughtered and as towns are deserted.
There really isn’t much to say except that far less was pertaining in Libya to have warranted a ‘no fly zone’ and the invasion of Libya by NATO and French forces who kept providing arms for renegade groups to topple the regime.
So why are they not entering Syria; maybe just maybe Syrian lives are not so important as Libyan lives after all. Reality/Truth is; these guys are headed in the direction where their mouths and parochial interests would be served. Libyan oil being the interest.
Ours as a people is to always pray for our brethren the world over, that Allah eases for them their predicaments of war, strife and disagreements. The prophet Mohammed (may ALLAH exalt his mention) had foretold a time when Muslims would fight each other or in the worse case aid a kaafir to fight his fellow in faith.
May Allah aid, guide, guard and protect all Muslims (young, old, rich, poor, male, female, present and absent) may he bless us and guide us unto the straight path till Jannah.
Was salamu alaikum wa rahmatul Laah!
Am back next week on my weekly lecture (HIDAAYA) pulpit to speak to topical issues about deen and dunya. May Allah reward you for reading, and sharing. May HE reward the effort and make it bigger than it now is.
